Welcome to the People’s Church of Jacksonville

In the decades following the Civil War, a small but powerful spiritual movement emerged in the United States. Protestant Christian ministers—whose theology and politics had become too radical—broke from their denominations and created independent “People’s Churches” that married progressive religion with progressive activism.

We believe the time has come for a rebirth of this movement.

The People’s Church of Jacksonville will offer fellowship, inspiration, and education for sojourners aligned with our vision of the Kingdom/Community of God. We will offer spiritual support and theological grounding for all those working towards our collective liberation, which will only come by first establishing racial, gender, economic, and ecological justice.

Launching a new church in the midst of a global pandemic is not ideal. But Justice waits for no one. Due to COVID-related restrictions, The People’s Church of Jacksonville will not be holding in-person gatherings in the near future. In the meantime, we invite you to join our virtual community by signing up for our e-mail list, subscribing to our YouTube channel, following our profile on TikTok, liking our Facebook page, following us on Twitter, and/or following us on Instagram. You can subscribe to the phillip baber podcast, which will also be falling under the umbrella of our ministry. You can also look forward to upcoming opportunities to join webinars, book studies, and other small learning communities.
Thank you for visiting us. We hope you will choose to join us on our journey toward justice and freedom.
